FinTech West announces expansion of cluster with South Coast hub

FinTech West announces exciting new collaboration with Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council and Dorset LEP, supported by Barclays Eagle Labs Bournemouth, to provide more support to the extended FinTech community across the South Coast hot spot.

The Launch of FinTech West – South Coast event is scheduled to take place in Poole on 27th Sept, see https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/680104670377/. The event, hosted by Barclays Eagle Labs at their popular new home, Foundry, will announce the collaboration between FinTech West, BCP Council and Dorset LEP, promising to share plans for future events and initiatives, as well as learning and networking. This will include an update following research into the South West FinTech Ecosystem, a project led by Whitecap Consulting, as to what the sector looks like by region, as well as those businesses already benefitting from the FinTech cluster

Stuart Harrison, Director of FinTech West, comments: “Growth and inclusion sits at the heart of the FinTech West cluster and that can’t be achieved in isolation. We’re incredibly excited to be expanding our partnerships throughout the South Coast and West Country. We have several thousand people in our community including hundreds working for and involved with FinTech firms. Growth in the region as a whole has been nothing short of phenomenal.”

Claire Main, Economic Development Officer for BCP Council, said, “We are delighted with our ongoing collaboration with FinTech West, the South Coast hub providing us with a clearer focus on regional activity and related needs to further boost the sector. The area is well known for financial services, which includes c350 businesses with a GVA of £1.3bn; and with 12,000+ employed in BCP’s creative digital sector alone, we have the perfect ingredients to further develop the FinTech ecosystem using existing talent and supply chains.”

This exciting new collaboration and extended support follows a year of significant success for FinTech West. They have delivered an extended programme of events and are currently gearing up for the FinTech West Annual Conference as part of the Bristol Tech Festival in October. This follows the inaugural FinTech Awards South West hosted in July, close partnership work with CFIT and the recent announcement of the Future Finance 4 All ESRC funded project led by the University of Bristol.
