Ransomware attack experience!

On the 6th May Navos Technologies, Assured Data Protection and Fintech West offered an exclusive opportunity to be part of an adrenaline-fuelled cyber attack without the actual consequences. We created a fully immersive experience that allowed attendees to learn from a realistic ransomware scenario, giving crucial insights on how to protect and recover their precious data.

Our thanks also go to Osborne Clarke for hosting at their super facilities at Halo, Bristol. And the event itself was opened by Peter Warcup of Osborne Clarke who explained some of their capabilities particularly relating to cybersecurity legal matters.

After a brief overview of FinTech West and its activities, we moved on the real “meat” of the day thanks to Chris Greenhalgh of Navos starting with a reminder of some of the most recent and high profile attacks. Chris then handed over to Ben Charles-Hill and Ewen Wilson of ADP.

Guests participated in a real-time timeline of a ransomware attack, from the moment of initial discovery by the IT staff, through the ensuing days documenting the economic, operational, and legal impacts of the attack, and the subsequent data exfiltration. Each attendee took up a role to play in the unfolding scenes and everyone was able to take part in discussion around what could or should have been done…although sometimes there was no right or wrong answer.

The eye-opening and slighly scary event was followed by a much more relaxed drinks and discussion on the fabulous terrace with great views over Bristol.
